Frictional Games has confirmed the release of Amnesia: The Bunker is going to be delayed by 8 weeks, as developers look to do the game “justice”.
Amnesia: The Bunker was originally looking for release in March 2023 and can now arrive on May 16.
In an argument, Frictional Games explained that “the team has had a tough winter having a slew of illnesses that has affected the expansion.”
“It is important to us to do the game justice, and in light of these halts in production we don’t desire to rush the end product. The team is working hard to create The Bunker the very best it may be, and some more weeks can make the required difference.”
Set to produce for PC, Xbox and PlayStation, Amnesia: The Bunker follows a French soldier in WW1 as he becomes trapped in a dark bunker having a “dynamic and ever-present monster that reacts to player actions.”
“In these shoes of the French soldier Henri Clément, you are equipped with a revolver gun, a loud dynamo flashlight, along with other scarce supplies to scavenge and craft on the way,” reads Amnesia: The Bunker's Steam page, which adds that “no play-through may be the same” due to randomised behaviour.
“Hunted by an ever-present threat reacting to your every move and sound, you have to adapt your play-style to face hell,” the page continues. “Every decision will change the end result of methods the sport responds. Actions bear consequences.”
A trailer revealing The Bunker's “semi open-world” was launched in December.
Amnesia: The Bunker is the fourth title in the Frictional Games horror series, following on from 2023's Amnesia: Rebirth.
